A Kendal man who carried out a sustained and vicious attack on his girlfriend has been spared an immediate jail term.
Carlisle Crown Court heard how 29 year old Lee Medcalf bit his victim's nose during a repeated assault on the 7th of July.
She also suffered multiple bruises following the incident, which the court heard "had a profound effect" on her.
Medcalf appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday, having pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm.
He also admitted assault on the 4th of July and causing criminal damage at her home on 20th of July.
Medcalf - of Crummock Drive, was given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years with a four-month night time curfew.
He must also complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and has had a 200-metre restraining order imposed, for five years.
