A technology firm is set to move to bigger premises in Cumbria and triple its workforce in the next 12 months.

Multi Source Power (MSP), develops power systems for sustainable technologies such as wind and solar, that can be used on marine vessels.

Currently based in Hawkshead, the company will move to Elmsfield Park in Holme which will allow the current workforce of 10 to triple in size with 20 new jobs forecast to be created by 2017.

The new facility at Elmsfield Park is a 12,000 sq ft, two-floor industrial unit that includes test bays, development labs and office space.

MSP’s chief executive and founder, Simon Patterson said that the move will give the company to develop into an international powerhouse.

Mr Patterson said: “This move comes at an exciting time for the business.

“We’ve outgrown our site in Hawkshead and the move to this new, bigger unit gives us the space we need to develop our operation nationally and internationally.

“Our technology is clean, efficient, light and reliable for a diverse range of uses where there is a need for continuous power and the next 12 months will see us create up to 20 new jobs as the opportunities and interest in what we offer continues to rise.“

The company’s hybrid technology offers vastly reduced downtime with its reliability of power electronics, remote monitoring through wifi, mobile communications and triple redundancy systems.

The company recently showcased its latest hybrid technology at the METS trade show in Amsterdam, the world's largest marine equipment trade show.

The new power management and storage system gives a huge reduction in carbon emissions, compact design and silent operating levels, which would be easy to utilise in urban areas such as London.

Mr Patterson said: “We can quite rightly say that there is nothing to quite compare with this technology.

“It’s clean, efficient, lightweight and easy to install, ideal for vessels of all sizes to ensure continuous power using clean technologies.”

“These systems offer power in environments such as London where carbon emissions need to be kept to a minimum and space is tight.”
