Quick action by Cumbria's Fire and Rescue Service meant homes in Keswick were saved from being flooded yesterday.
They were called just before 4pm, to a report of water coming up through the drains and into properties on Penrith Road.
The drains were cleared of heavy flood water before any homes were affected.
Just 20 minutes later, the crew was called to pull two cars out of fast flowing water on the Thirlmere to Threlkeld road.
Nobody was injured during the incidents.
