At least two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a road traffic collision near Keswick.
A blue Citroen Berlingo and a grey Skoda Octavia collided on the A66 at Threlkeld at around 4.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service had to free the drivers, who were both trapped in their cars.
They were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary by the North West Ambulance Service.
It's not known whether there were any passengers in the vehicles at the time.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
