Businesses in Grasmere have started working together to make the most of this Christmas.
They've teamed up to create a pre-Christmas weekend event, called "Grasmere Welcomes Christmas", on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of November.
It's hoped that entertainment across both days - including carol singing, clog dancing, open air brass band performances and storytelling will encourage some local Christmas shopping.
Children's activities will also be on offer, with the Town Crier on hand to direct residents and visitors to the attractions. Dressing up is being encouraged, with costumes from the 1770 to 1850 era - William Wordsworth's lifetime.
With late-night shopping on the Saturday, organisers say they hope it becomes an annual event. The business deemed the "most welcoming" will be awarded a silver ‘Grasmere Welcome’ trophy.
Parking will be free all weekend at the Wordsworth Trust car park, with reduced all-day parking elsewhere: £1.20 (SLDC) and £3.00 (LDNPA). Grasmere School have also offered that the school car park will be free on the Saturday and Sunday - donations to the school are optional.
