Cumbria Police say a 26-year-old man has died, after a collision on the A5092 earlier today.
The accident - involving a van and a lorry happened just after 10am between Grizebeck and Lowick Green at the Gawthwaite junction.
The driver of the van, thought to be from the Preston area, was taken to Furness General Hospital where he passed away.
The lorry driver - a 36-year-old man from Merseyside, suffered minor injuries.
The road is not expected to re-open until the early evening, and a witness appeal has been launched.
