The Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out yesterday afternoon, after getting reports of a person or an animal falling 100 feet down Dow Crag.
The walker who made the report said it wasn't clear exactly what had fallen, and the rescue team was sent out to investigate.
It was later found to be a sheep, which had fallen down Easy Gully - one of the main gullies on the mountain.
Meanwhile, a man was rescued by the team from Claife Heights on Wednesday evening with an ankle injury.
He was treated at Furness General Hospital.
