Highways England will discuss improving safety on the A590 near Haverthwaite today.
Residents have complained about the junction at the railway station - saying right turns are difficult; whilst people struggle to cross the road.
An exhibition of potential traffic calming measures will be made at Outbeck Hall at Leven Valley Primary School between 2.30pm and 7.30pm this afternoon.
South Lakes MP Tim Farron said: “I am urging people to go along and make their views known. The A590 divides our communities in an area of increasing local housing and tourist attractions. The speed and volume of traffic on the road creates considerable hazards particularly for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles that have to access the local villages and hamlets. I hope that we are another step closer in our long running campaign to improve safety on the A590.”
Councillor Sue Sanderson added: “Many local residents have told me they find it difficult to use this junction, and that traffic travels too fast - some even drive all the way up Brow Edge and back down to avoid it. Hopefully these proposals will improve the junction for everyone - but I’m keen that local residents see the plans for themselves on 15 September and have their say.”
