£500,000 is going to be spent improving the route between Keswick and Penrith.
A single lane stretch of the A66, near Troutbeck, is going to be widened to make space for two dedicated right turns.
They'll serve the Sportsman Inn and Cocklakes Farm.
Work will start in mid-September and take around eight weeks; they'll be speed restrictions and temporary traffic lights in place.
Highways England project manager Peter Gee said: “This work will provide a dedicated waiting space for vehicles wishing to turn right into junctions serving these 2 businesses – removing a bottleneck on the main carriageway and providing safer, more reliable journeys.”
