A new competition's been launched to find more of Cumbria's best writers - with the winners getting a gig in Keswick.
North Cumbria Scriptwriters are looking for original one-act plays - and the best three will be staged at Keswick’s Theatre By The Lake next Spring.
The challenge is to find a poem and create a thirty minute script inspired by it.
The closing date is the end of August.
Speaking on behalf of North Cumbria Scriptwriters, Sophia Atcha said: “It’s an intriguing challenge. We’re looking for original one-act plays, three of which will be selected for performance. In an unusual unifying idea, scripts are all to be based on a poem of the writer’s choice.
"This poem is to feature as part of the 30 to 35 minute piece. Imaginative opportunities abound for plays that could be serious or comical, topical or escapist, literal or fantastical. Here is an unusual but surely tempting venture for local creative writers and dramatists.”
