A man was "extremely lucky" to survive a fall from Helvellyn yesterday, according to rescuers.
The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team had their second callout to the peak within 24 hours.
The man had slipped from Striding Edge all the way down to Red Tarn.
He suffered a broken ankle and was winched away by a coastguard helicopter before being take to hospital.
The Patterdale MRT's team leader is warning people that Helvellyn is in full winter conditions and anyone tackling it needs to be equipped properly.
