Allerdale Council is supporting a scheme to provide lunches over the summer holidays to children who may otherwise not have a hot meal each day.
They're providing £1,000 to support the 'Holiday LunchPacks 4 Kids' scheme.
The North Lakes Food Bank says hundreds of local children will be helped by the scheme.
The lunchpacks will include tinned items such as fish, meat, vegetables, beans, spaghetti, macaroni cheese, ravioli, biscuits and cereal bars.

Alan Smith, Leader of the Council, said: “My summer holidays as a lad were brilliant and I want kids of today to have the same experience – not worrying about food. When I heard about this scheme I knew we had to support it in any way we could. One of our key priorities is to help those people most in need. I also ask everyone to help out with donations.”
Jessie Hendry Gooding, project manager of the North Lakes Food Bank, said: “This generous donation is fantastic news. We know of 270 West Cumbrian families who are under such financial pressure that they will struggle to give their children lunches during the school holidays. In some cases, a school dinner may be the only hot meal they get to eat each day.
“This funding will help us provide our holiday lunchpacks and ensure those children don’t go hungry.”
