Children can swim for just 10p at Keswick's public baths this summer.

Allerdale Borough Council's behind the scheme for under-16s, after receiving £5,000 in funding from the County Council.

The offer starts today and runs until the 4th of September.

Councillor Mark Fryer, Allerdale Borough Council’s deputy leader with the portfolio for Economic Development, said: “This is now the third year in which this 10p swim scheme has been run. We are re-launching it not only to help young people to be active and to also stay healthy and fit, but to ensure all children are able to make the most of Summer and the leisure facilities Allerdale has to offer.”

Cllr Gerald Humes, Vice-Chair of Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Allerdale, added: “In difficult financial times, we are supporting this scheme to help young people to be active, and able to make the most of summer. It is important to the County Council that all children have the same opportunities and we are delighted we can help to make that possible.”

Normal pool adult to child supervision ratios apply at the swim sessions and entry may be denied if the maximum bather numbers are reached. For opening times and other details, please contact the pools direct.
