NHS Update On Hospitals As Normal Services Resume

The NHS has released an update on services in the wake of the floods.

Here is a list of what services are now open as normal around the Bay Area. 

Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
From today: 

- Children and families care group have resumed normal service with some exceptions in: Keswick and Cockermouth;  Carlisle, Appleby and Patterdale; Kendal.

- All specialist services have returned to normal.

- Dental services urgent access will be provided for patients in Carlisle, Eden, Allerdale and Copeland, Normal services will resume on Thursday. 

- All mental health clinics and appointments have returned to normal. In some cases, because of issues with transport, particularly Carlisle and Allerdale, services will have reduced capacity. 

- Community services staff will resume business as usual as much as possible. Flooding and transport issues are causing difficulties in some areas especially where access is via bridges.

- All outpatient services will be on, however teams are still facing significant pressures mainly because of transport. There will still be local disruption.

Westmorland General Hospital

- Running as normal

University Hospital Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust

Services at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) are scheduled to return to normal from today, however outpatient clinics are limited due to power stability concerns.

Queen Victoria Hospital 

- Outpatient clinics at the QVH have been cancelled due to power outage concerns

Furness General Hospital

- Continues to run as normal

- Cardiology services returned to normal

North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust

Business as normal from today.

All GP practices across Cumbria are open.

Dr Craig Melrose, medical director at NHS England Cumbria and the North East said: “We are very pleased to see the vast majority of NHS services back to business as usual.  

"This means patients with planned appointments and operations will be able to receive their care as soon as possible if they haven’t been able to attend for treatment in the last few days.

“The response of the NHS to the pressures brought by the floods has been strong; everyone working in the local health system pulled together to make sure services remained safe and care was provided to those most in need. 

“We’d like to thank the public again for their continued support and understanding.”
