A man who was rescued from the Lake District fells by after getting lost in the dark this week, was close to being "seriously at risk", according to the teams that found him.
The Langdale & Ambleside, Wasdale and Keswick teams were called out late on Thursday afternoon to Esk Hause in the Central Fells, after an emergency beacon signal was picked up to the south of Great End.
A search was launched for the 34 year old man over Eskdale, and the top of Scafell, in what were described as "absolutely atrocious conditions", with high wind and driving rain.
Police Scotland was then called in, and the man was eventually found at Calf Cove.
Safety warnings have been issued to walkers thinking about going into the fells this weekend, and are being advised not to head out.
