A South Lakes based charity is preparing to help cancer patients this Christmas.

Cancer Care has been helping local cancer patients and their loved ones for over 30 years and currently provide a wide range of free professional support services, including Counselling, dedicated Support Groups and Complementary therapies.

Alison Dixey, Head of Client Services & Development at CancerCare says; “Christmas is usually a really busy time for many of us with loads of parties and family get  togethers lined up.

"But if you have cancer or having cancer treatment you might not feel up to it.

"It can also be a really stressful time for other family members too.

"To help, CancerCare's Therapy team have put together some useful information on our website including their Top 10 Coping Tips as well as other practical sources of support. And  remember, if you need to talk to someone give us a call – our experienced team are here for you.”

With two centres based in Kendal on Blackhall Road and in Lancaster on Slyne Road, CancerCare also provide outreach services in local hospitals including Westmorland General.

All their services are free of charge and available to anyone who has been affected by cancer including relatives & friends.

Susie Bates from Kendal, a former CancerCare client says; “CancerCare is there for you and for your family at one of the most difficult times of your life.

"I have benefited hugely by being a member of this special family.

"There are times in our lives when we need all the extra love and support we can get!

"Being told you have cancer is certainly one of those times.

"CancerCare is a safe and understanding haven for anyone going through a difficult time - all you need to do is give them a call.”
