An independent panel has recommended a 1% maximum increase in the basic allowance paid to South Lakeland's councillors.
The Independent Remuneration Panel of SLDC has made the recommendation to bring it up to £3,958 a year.
Full Council is expected to agree it on the 17th of December, with the changes taking effect from April.
Councillors have only had one allowance increase - of 1%, in the last six years.
The IRP is made up of five members, all of who have no political allegiance and are entirely independent of the district council.
A copy of the IRP’s report and the recommended scheme are available for inspection by members of the public at South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 4UQ during normal office hours (9am to 5pm Monday to Friday).
