UPDATE - 10.51am: Police have confirmed that a body has been found during the search for a man whose car was seen being swept away in the River Kent in Kendal yesterday.
Some eyewitnesses on Aynam Road reported seeing him clinging to the top of his vehicle.
Police have cordoned off a section of the riverbank on Natland Road this morning.
Divers were called in to investigate after a what appeared to be a car was spotted in the water.
A number of services have been assisting the search, including fire and rescue, mountain rescue teams, Bay Search and Rescue, along with air support from NPAS and the Coastguard.
Police are still working to establish the circumstances that led to the car leaving the road, and would like anyone who witnessed it to get in touch by calling 101 and asking for Sgt Darren Bawden.
Meanwhile, the Environment Agency has a flood warning in place for Keswick Campsite.
Lesser flood alerts in place for the Lower River Lune and Conder; as well as the rivers Kent and Bela; the Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck; and the Brathay, Rothay and Winster.
On the roads, flooding has affected the A591 near Kendal; whilst surface water has led to difficult driving conditions on the M6 through Cumbria.
