Cumbria County Council is are looking for more foster carers to look after children and young people who are curently in care.

The authority are looking for carers to look after children of all ages as there are increasing numbers of young people going into care.

Local people can find out more at a drop-in event at The Forum in Barrow on Wednesday 25 November.

Cllr Anne Burns, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “These drop-in sessions are a great way to find out more. We’ve loads of information on our website, but sometimes you just need to speak to someone face to face. The council staff at these sessions are really approachable and will be able to answer any questions you might have.

“There are many myths about who can become a foster carer, but what really matters is that you are committed to children and able to offer a stable and secure home. If you do decide to become a foster carer you will not be expected to 'go it alone'. From your first enquiry to each subsequent placement you'll be fully supported.”
