Lung Cancer has been named by the Morecambe Bay NHS Trust as the biggest cause of local cancer deaths.

They're reminding local people about a talk being held by the UHMBT, where they can find out more about the disease.

The first talk is on at Furness General Hospital today (Tuesday 3rd November), with a second event at Westmorland General on the 11th of November.

Dr Andrzej Luksza, Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine, UHMBT, said; “This event is a very good opportunity for members of the public to gain a valuable insight into lung cancer.

“As part of the talk, we will discuss what lung cancer is, what the symptoms and treatment options are, and explore why it is so common in this part of the world. On a more optimistic note, we’ll also examine whether the future might be more hopeful for the treatment of this disease.

“We hope to see as many members of the public there as possible.

The educational talks that the Trust put on for members of the public are all part of its commitment to engage with and educate the public on issues and conditions that really matter to them. Members of the public who attend the talks can also sign up to be a member of the Trust, which means they can stay up to date with what is happening at the Trust and receive special invites to events being held across the Trust.

For more information or to book your place on one the lung cancer talks, contact the Foundation Trust Membership Office on 01229 404473 or email your name and address to FTmembershipOffice@MBHT.nhs.uk
