10 registered sex offenders were returned to jail in Cumbria for breaching their licences or Sexual Offence Prevention Orders in the year to March.
A multi-agency report has been published looking into how well the public is protected from sexual or violent offenders.
As of March this year, the police, probation and prison services were mointoring 608 people in Cumbria; trying to prevent them committing further crimes.
Detective Superintendent Cath Thundercloud, head of Cumbria Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit, said: "Every year a new report is released which details how agencies in Cumbria manage and monitor violent and sexual offenders in the community. It is important the public understands the work and effort that goes on to protect local communities, although high risk offenders are thankfully rare in Cumbria.
“By working together the agencies involved in MAPPA can develop robust risk management plans aimed at preventing criminals from reoffending, and monitor offenders closely to protect potential victims quickly by returning offenders to prison for breaching the conditions of their release.”
