A third of elderly people in Lancashire and Cumbria are lonely at Christmas.
The national group, Friends of the Elderly, is calling on people to host Christmas Day activities so they don't have to be.
Last year, just eight events for December 25th were registered with the charity in the region.
They suggest getting people together to watch a festive movie; share a cup of tea and a mince pie; or go on a walk.
They're also appealing for pubs, restaurants and taxi firms to get involved.
