The Federation of Small Businesses has revealed its results of a survey about the future of car parking in Cumbria.
Managers of small businesses were asked for their views, and FSB members have since voted overwhelmingly for better co-ordination of parking policy.
Members are also calling for better measures to encourage shoppers and visitors to stay longer, and to use new technology to "bring the car parking provision into the 21st century".
It echoes the view of the Windermere and Bowness Chamber of Trade, which has given its views to South Lakeland District Council.
