A Windermere man who damaged two vehicles at a local car show in what a court heard as "a fit of anger", has been spared an immediate jail term.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how 21 year old Jonanthan Brown smashed the windscreen and bonnet of vehicles that belonged to his ex-girlfriend's new partner.

It happened at a festival at Crooklands in June.

Brown - of Ghyll Road, pleaded guilty to two criminal damage charges, the possession of two offensive weapons - a sledgehammer and a hammer, and also admitted resisting a police officer.

He was given a four-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 40 hours of unpaid work.
