Drivers in Kendal are being advised on road closures ahead of the Torchlight Carnival, which takes place this Friday.
Thousands of people are expected to line the streets for the parade which starts at 7.30pm.
Town centre roads will be closed to incoming traffic from 6.30pm and to outgoing traffic from 6.45pm.
SLDC says the gates to the Westmorland Shopping Centre car park will be closing early at 6pm.
All roads are expected to re-open at 10.30pm.
During the evening the town centre roads that fall in the carnival cordon area are closed using a Road Closure Order, which prohibits traffic using those roads until the road closure has been formally lifted.
Anyone parking within the road closure cordon will not be able to leave in their vehicle until the police have given their consent for the road to re-open.
The SLDC town centre car park at South Lakeland House will remain open on Friday night.
