Residents in Haverthwaite can have their say over proposed safety improvements to the A590.
Highways England is staging a public exhibition to discuss how to improve the junction at the railway station.
Safety campaigners say it's difficult to turn right at the junction and for pedestrians to cross the road due to fast moving traffic.
South Lakes MP Tim Farron is urging people to have their say at the exhibition on at Leven Valley Primary School from 2.30pm to 7pm on Tuesday 15th September.
Tim Farron has long campaigned for safety improvements to the A590, and local district and county councillor Sue Sanderson has worked with parish councils and residents to convince Highways England to put this proposal together
Tim said: “I am urging people to go along and make their views known. The A590 divides our communities in an area of increasing local housing and tourist attractions. The speed and volume of traffic on the road creates considerable hazards particularly for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles that have to access the local villages and hamlets. I hope that we are another step closer in our long running campaign to improve safety on the A590.”
Sue added: “Many local residents have told me they find it difficult to use this junction, and that traffic travels too fast - some even drive all the way up Brow Edge and back down to avoid it. Hopefully these proposals will improve the junction for everyone - but I’m keen that local residents see the plans for themselves on 15 September and have their say.”
