A series of overnight closures of the eastbound A590 will take place later this month.
It's so Highways England can carry out work costing £130,000 to tackle wear and tear on the carriageway.
The first project is at Pigwilly Wood, between the Brettargh Holt roundabout and the M6 on the nights of the 14th and 15th of September.
Then the second scheme is between Meathop roundabout and the junction for Witherslack on the nights of the 21st and 22nd of September.
Lengthy diversions will be in place for those heading towards the motorway on those nights.
On each of the 4 nights the eastbound carriageway will close between 8pm and 6am with clearly-signed diversions in place.
There are 2 diversion options for the Brettargh Wood to M6 eastbound closure with traffic able to join the M6 at junction 36 via the northbound A591 and A6 towards Kendal and the southbound A65. Drivers can also join the southbound M6 at junction 35 at Carnforth by joining the southbound A6 from the A590 at Levens.
During the closure of the eastbound carriageway between Meathop roundabout and the junction for Witherslack drivers heading for the M6 will need to leave the A590 at Newby Bridge - taking the northbound A592 up to Windermere and then the A591 towards Kendal and then the southbound A591, rejoining the A590 at Brettargh Holt roundabout.
