Speed limits on several roads in Allerdale - including High Hill in Keswick, could be lowered or extended.
Cumbria County Council's proposals follow a review of speed limits across the Allerdale district, and a consultation's being launched so local people can have a say.
Road accident figures and traffic speed and volume figures were considered as part of the review, which also took account of the needs of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders, as well as all vehicle drivers.
Councillor Gerald Humes, Chair of Cumbria County Council’s Allerdale Local Committee, said: “The council has reviewed existing speed limits in Allerdale and we’re now consulting on possible changes at several locations. I would encourage as many people as possible to let us know their views on the proposals, which will be considered by members of Allerdale Local Committee later this year.”
