Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner has announced funding to the road crash charity 'Brake', to assist with their crucial work with police to support bereaved and seriously injured road crash victims.
Peter McCall announced £4,000 will be donated over two years.
Mr McCall explains: “Last year alone, tragically there were 29 people killed and 203 people seriously injured on our roads.
"We all have a responsibility to drive safely and respect other road users.
“Brake provide an invaluable support service to victims of road crashes, and I am pleased that our donation of £4,000 over two years will go some way to help Brake continue to meet the rising demand for their important specialist support services.
“For instance, their helpline and support packs offer a combination of emotional support and practical help and information, including advice on the criminal justice system procedures, and signposting to other appropriate local and specialist service."
Brake’s helpline is available on 0808 8000 401 (free from most phones, open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm) or helpline@brake.org.uk.
