An Arnside man who sexually assaulted a woman in the village has been jailed for five years.
28 year old Marian Cojocaru was sentenced today having admitted a serious sexual assault, which he committed in December.
Carlisle Crown Court heard graphic details about the offence, which happened after the pair met during a night out.
During the attack, the petrified victim - who lives outside Cumbria - said she feared she might be raped or even killed.
She was left with "numerous" injuries and the significant ongoing impact of the ordeal included flashbacks, the court was told. Sending Cojocaru to prison, Judge Peter Davies said of his victim: "She went out for a night out, and came out afterwards feeling used and abused."
Cojocaru, of The Promenade, Arnside, was made subject to indefinite sex offender notification requirements and a sexual harm prevention order.
