Temporary traffic lights will be in place overnight on the A66 for the next few weeks, for resurfacing work near Keswick.
Highways England's working on the route between Threlkeld and Scales from tonight until the 10th of July, between 8pm and 6am each night.
Work will also be done between Scales and Mungrisedale from the 27th of June and the 20th of July.
Some side roads will also be closed overnight but these will be signed locally.
Highways England project manager Peter Gee said: “This is important work to ensure local people, businesses and tourists can continue to enjoy smooth and safe journeys through this part of the Lake District.
“We’ll be doing most of the work overnight to minimise inconvenience to people.”
