Locals Make Queen's Birthday Honours List

A number of local people have been honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

There's an OBE for Ulverston's Roger Coates for his work in nuclear safety.

Dr. The Reverend Canon David Peacock, from Carnforth gets the same honour for his efforts reducing re-offending in Cumbria.

Broughton's Paul Loftus receives an MBE for fundraising through the Fred Witton cycle race.

Also getting MBEs are Carnforth duo William Blackledge - who's involved with North West in Bloom - and Denise Mace, who works in HR at the University of Cumbria.

Oxfam volunteer William Wendt - of Coniston - also gets an MBE.

And, for services to the community in Natland, Raymond Richardson gets a British Empire Medal.
