Abandon Normal Devices is offering a unique opportunity to people in Cumbria with their new project.
The Workshops in People's home project is an opportunity for people to develop new creative skills whilst finding out about how other people live, and hearing their stories.
The workshops are taking place across the county between May 21st – June 12th, and will be turning domestic spaces and networks into hubs for creativity, activism and sharing skills.
Gabrielle Jenks, Director of Abandon Normal Devices said: “Workshops in People’s Homes is about strengthening communities by encouraging people to share their unique skills, stories and experiences.”
“It also gives the participants the fascinating opportunity to see inside other people’s homes and learn a unique new skill.”
Craft enthusiast will be able to visit a crochet museum in a front room and learn about the history of crochet over tea and Westmorland pepper cake, or take part in a vintage pattern exchange.
There will also be workshops on how to make cyan-blue photography prints and how to create glass objects using traditional kiln formed glass techniques.
Joshua Sofaer, award winning artist and director said: “workshops in people’s homes celebrates people and places in Cumbria”
“We hope that visiting folk in their homes will not only give people the opportunity to develop a new skill but also learn something about the way that other people live and the stories that they have to share.”
