A drug dealer caught in possession of £2,500 cannabis as he drove through the Lake District has been jailed for almost four years.

Police stopped Thomas Lovett near Keswick in October, with more than a quarter of a kilo of skunk cannabis discovered in the vehicle.

The 34-year-old was bailed by officers, but he was arrested again five months later when a haul of heroin was found at his home.

Guilty pleas were later entered to the possession of both cannabis and heroin with intent to supply.

On Friday, Lovett was sentenced to three years and nine months behind bars at Carlisle Crown Court by Judge Peter Hughes QC.

The judge heard Lovett, of Yeowartville, Workington, had a "long history" of involvement in drugs.
