A rejuvenated Kendal play park - that's become a symbol of one community's recovery from the floods - officially opens today.
Work had started on the Sandylands play area last year but December's storms put the job back and forced locals out of their homes.
Now, the £135,000 play park is complete.
A family fun afternoon has been organised to mark the occasion - that starts at 2.15pm.
Rev Jonny Gios of Sandylands Methodist Church has been actively involved in the community’s flood recovery work and said the park represents something that Sandylands’ residents can be proud of during what is still a very difficult period.
Rev Gios said: “Since the floods, Sandylands has become an even closer community and the community spirit has been phenomenal.
“The park started from a dream two years ago and now it has become a reality. It is just amazing really.”
