Catstycam the Outdoor Shop in Glenridding has raised over £1,150 pounds for the Ullswater Environment Recovery Fund.
The Ullswater based outdoor shop that was under water twice in the December floods has been selling goods that were affected when they flooded, but were alright after a good clean.
They have also been given boxes of ladies fleeces from top outdoor company The Original Mountain Marathon Co.
Andy Williams from OMM was so saddened by the images he saw of Glenridding during the floods that he donated boxes of fleeces for Catstycam the Outdoor Shop to sell, giving all proceeds to the Recovery Fund.
Andrew Laverick of Catstycam said “The amount of support we have received is heart warming.
"People who love Ullswater have been so shocked by the devestation of the floods that they are keen to help us get back on our feet. I can’t thank OMM enough for their very practical support.
"The bulk of the money we raised has been through their fantastic donation.
"We also have a collection box on the counter and kind people have been giving plenty of their own money.
"There was one cheque for £100 and one for £50 in the box, along with hundreds of pounds in donations.”
Lake District environment charity Nurture Lakeland set up a dedicated fund for the Ullswater Environment in response to demand from the public who wanted to help the area recover from Storm Desmond. Karen Mitchell, Director, Nurture Lakeland says: ‘The funds raised will enable local groups to repair damage and enhance the local natural environment so that this beautiful area continues to be an inspiration to visitors.’

Community groups and other organisations will be able to apply for support from the fund for projects such as footpath repair, habitat restoration and creation, interpretation and educational activities.
