The Westmorland Damson Association says it's decided to cancel this Saturday's Damson Day.
Organisers say it's due to the recent poor weather, which has led to the show site and parking area being completely waterlogged.
Lorraine Brierley, Damson Day Administrator, said: "The forecast for the rest of the week shows no sign of improvement. Despite all the efforts of the Damson Day team it has not been possible to make the site safe for exhibitors and members of the public, and so reluctantly we must cancel this year’s event.
"We are considering an event around damson picking time and will keep you informed should this go ahead.
"Your stall fees will of course be refunded in full and we hope you understand the reluctance with which this decision has been reached."
