More has been revealed about the reasons behind the closure of Dockray footbridge in Kendal.
Cumbria County Council have revealed the bridge has what's described as 'significant scour beneath the column base on the west side'.
A spokesperson told us this: "Dockray Footbridge was inspected immediately following the December floods.
"This was a visual and underwater inspection, at that time river levels were high and results showed no evidence of significant damage.
"Since then and as water levels have continued to drop the county council has conducted a programme of re-inspection.
"It is part of this latest inspection programme that dive teams have yesterday (Tuesday) identified new significant scour beneath the column base on the west side of the bridge.
Contractors have already begun remedial works, and depending on river levels, the bridge will re-open by the end of next week.
