Last month's Festival of Food in Kendal attracted 39% more visitors this year than it did in 2015.
That's according to independent research released today, which reveals the event's economic impact hit "an all time high".
Around 32,000 people visited the festival - with three quarters of those in town specifically for the event.
The average spend per visitor was 25% higher than last year, with the length of each visit being three and a half hours - up by an average of 40 minutes on last year.
This year’s special celebrity chef guests included Nick Nairn and Paul Rankin.
Paul said: “Kendal Festival of Food is a foodie heaven… Proper agriculture… Proper producers… Proper food… All served up with proper hospitality! I’ll be back!”
Nick added: “What a great weekend of wonderful food, insightful demonstrations and of course whisky tasting. But my overwhelming memory was of the terrifically friendly folk in one of the most beautiful corners of Britain.”
