Morecambe Bay NHS Trust hospitals have become so busy this week that health bosses took to Facebook to appeal for extra staff to come in.
The call was posted to social media just before 7pm last night.
It said the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital were both "very busy".
The hospitals have struggled with demand over Easter.
The RLI has had an outbreak of flu in its Lancaster Suite to compound the problem.
Meanwhile, people were being asked not to go to Accident and Emergency at FGH at the weekend unless it was a real emergency.
