Booths supermarket in Keswick - which was devastated by December’s flooding, will reopen on March the 21st.

It's just in time for the Easter holidays, which marks the start of the local tourist season.

The opening will be followed by a day of community celebration on the 14th of April, for staff members and local residents.

It's re-opening in two phases; The store will re-open before Easter, but the fresh counters, hot food counter and café will reopen fully in April.

Graham Booth, Property Director at Booths said: “We are thrilled to welcome customers back to Booths Keswick.  The extent of the damage caused by the floods meant that we had to rebuild the store from the bottom up; everything is new from the fridges to the floors.  We’ve taken the opportunity to upgrade the store both in terms of future flood resilience and invested in the latest green technology.

“It’s been a massive undertaking, and so much credit goes to our staff and estate teams who have worked around the clock to get the store open in time for the holidays. We know how important it is to have a community asset like Booths available over Easter, and the reopening is a cause for celebration.

"Keswick is definitely open for business.”

Meanwhile, on April the 14th, the store will hold a ‘Best of Booths’ celebration; inviting a selection of Cumbrian suppliers including Brysons of Keswick, Appleby Creamery, Hawkshead Brewery and Claire’s Handmade Preserves to the store for a day of tastings, followed by a community reception in the Booths café at 7pm, for locals and staff members to attend.
