Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been assessed as ‘GOOD’ in a new league table published by NHS Improvement today.

The publication of the first league table is being announced by the Health Secretary at the Global Safety Summit along with further plans to encourage an open, transparent reporting culture in the NHS.

Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is ranked 58 and placed in the category as having ‘GOOD’ levels of openness and transparency.

Dr Sara Munro, Director of Quality & Nursing said, “This is another positive indication that we are moving in the right direction.

"Our ambition is to place high quality, compassionate care above all other aims and to do this we have been working hard to create the conditions that support this – open, learning and focussed on continual improvements.

"We have made some big changes to the way we manage incidents to place a greater emphasis on learning.

"We have trained 50 staff this year in root cause analysis, all staff have been involved in the learning review at the outset and we have involved families more within the overall process resulting in a much more supportive process focussed on learning and improvements.

"We have also made improvements to our leadership and established a shared set of values, (Kindness, Fairness, Spirit & Ambition) to guide how we work with each other and our patients.

"There’s much more still to do but we are confident we are moving in the right direction”
