British Transport Police are appealing for information after a member of rail staff was sexually assaulted as she assisted a member of the public at Lancaster railway station.

The incident occurred on Saturday, 27 February at around 7.20pm.

Investigating officer PC Muhammed Patel said: “The member of rail staff was assisting a man in the inquiry office at the station.

"Once she had given him the information he required he would not leave.

"As she left the office he followed her and groped her.

“The victim was left feeling vulnerable and unnerved by the man’s behaviour.

"She was extremely shaken by what happened and it is vital we find the man responsible.

"This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.”

After reviewing CCTV, officers are today issuing images of a man they want to speak to about the incident.

“The man in the images is someone who I think has information about this incident. Who is he?” added PC Patel.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference 272 of 9/3.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
