A Kendal man has been handed an eight-month jail term - suspended for two years, for arming himself with a cricket bat after sparking a number of disturbances in Kendal town centre.
23 year old Christopher Procter of Stricklandgate was told by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court today that he had been "fighting drunk" in and around Kent Street at around 4am on the 22nd of February.
He then collected the bat from home but was arrested before he used it.
He'd pleaded guilty to a public order offence and possessing an offensive weapon, and was placed under supervision for 12 months and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
