TV impressionist Rory Bremner is coming to Kendal, Keswick and Lancaster next month, to perform shows to raise money for local flood victims.
He'll kick off his mini tour at Penrith's Eden Arts venue on the 23rd of February, followed by gigs at The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal on the 24th, The Theatre by the Lake in Keswick on 25th, and The Grand Theatre, in Lancaster on the 29th. He's also playing in York.
He will both star in - and compere a two hour event, alongside other comedians including Justin Moorhouse and Fred MacAulay, who've both been confirmed for the Penrith and Kendal gigs. Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets are priced at £20 and can be booked through each venue.
All proceeds from the Cumbrian gigs with go to Cumbria Community Foundation's Flood Appeal, the proceeds from the Lancaster and York gigs will go to their respective flood relief appeals.
Rory said: ''It was heartbreaking to see the devastation caused by the floods in Cumbria. To help out, I'm bringing a top line-up of comics for some special fund-raisers. Come along for a great evening of comedy and variety and support those hardest hit!''
Adrian Lochhead, Director of Eden Arts, said: We are really pleased that such a prominent performer and prodigious talent such as Rory is keen to help Cumbria bounce back. The fact that he is kicking off his short 'COME HELL AND HIGH WATER' tour at The Old Fire Station, Penrith is massively appropriate.
"During the December flood crisis, the main part of the building was turned over to local flood relief volunteers for office space and warehousing for the huge volume of donations we received from across the UK.
"It's hugely fitting that the first benefit gig Rory is performing on this mini tour is happening in one of the buildings that was so close to the action.''
Andy Beeforth, Cumbria Community Foundation's Chief Executive, said: "I am overwhelmed that one of the UKs most astute comic satirists is performing not one but three shows for Cumbria Community Foundation's Flood Recovery Appeal. I hope he gets a rousing welcome at the venues in Penrith, Keswick and Kendal.
"We've raised £5.2 million so far to help Cumbrians recover from the devastating floods and we need to raise more. We know from our previous fundraising efforts that people will help for a long time. Having Rory Bremner's support in this way is a real boost for our appeal."
