The South Lakes Safari Zoo may not be closing permanently after all.
A statement from the Safari Zoo Nature Foundation - a charity set up by the park - suggests it'll take control of the attraction in Dalton.
The park is due to close later this month after a falling out relating to health and safety between management and Barrow Borough Council.
The statement went on to say owner David Gill has retired.
Even so, Mr. Gill took to his Facebook page on New Year's Eve to accuse Barrow Borough Council of "harassment" and "lies" over a two year period.
The charity added the zoo's gates will reopen in time for Easter after the construction of new facilities, including a Natural History Museum.
Meanwhile, a post on the attraction's own Facebook page says the park will close on January 11th for essential works but that they still have lots of plans for the future.
