Fire fighters were called to a blaze at a property in Kendal overnight.
They were on the scene on Aynam Road just before 8pm on Tuesday the 22nd of December.
The road between Miller Bridge and Nether Bridge was closed, with motorists asked to use alternative, safer routes.
The road was re-opened just before midnight.
It's unclear at this stage if anyone was injured in the blaze.
