Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership has enhanced its private sector representation by appointing four new board members.

The latest professionals to join the LEP board are Chief Executive of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Rob Johnston MBE, Openreach Regional Infrastructure Director for the North, Jim Jackson, Procurement Director from Innovia Films, Ian Robinson, and Chief Executive of Holker Group, Duncan Peake.

Cumbria LEP’s board comprises six representatives from the private sector, including the chair, and six from the public sector.

Private sector board membership recruitment is measured against specific selection criteria, including the depth of personal skills and experience, and reflecting the range of the county’s business sizes, sectors and geography.

George Beveridge, Chair of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, says: “The appointments of Rob, Jim, Ian and Duncan bolster the private sector membership of our board and come at a crucial time for the LEP as we seek to secure devolved powers and maximise investment.

“Each new board member brings highly valuable expertise and experience to the role and they will all play an integral part in helping us to fulfil the economic priorities for the county.

“We are keen for them to spearhead our continuing work with both private and public partners and stakeholders to help secure funding and implement initiatives which support greater sustainability and more economic growth in Cumbria.”
